Colleagues, members, educators, safety professionals and family joined together to wish Terry Murphy all the best in his retirement.

LO’s manager of human resource development was caught by surprise at an open house held on June 17 in Milton.  Over 100 guests came to personally offer good wishes to Terry, who retires on June 30.

On hand to pay tribute were Hank Gelderman of Jan Gelderman Landscaping, who spoke on behalf of LO members, Wendy Peters of the Horticulture Ontario Secondary Teachers Association (HOSTA), Ted Whitworth of the Farm Safety Association, Andrew Gaydon of Vanden Bussche Irrigation, LO president Bob Adams, who presented flowers to Terry’s wife Valerie, and Paul Day, LO’s trade show manager, who gave Terry a gift on behalf of the association.

LO executive director Tony DiGiovanni also expressed appreciation. Many of Terry’s industry associates contributed toward a retirement gift, which Tony presented.

In addition to Valerie, Terry’s daughters Michele and Lesley and grandson Carter were on hand during the tribute. Pat Hart provided beautiful violin accompaniment throughout the event. Pat is the fiancé of LO’s Ashleigh Woodhall, who capably handled MC duties during the afternoon. Ashleigh is an assistant to Terry and certification coordinator.

Terry was featured on the cover of the June 2008 Horticulture Review. A number of articles concerning Terry may be found in that edition, available online at www.horttrades.com. Click on Horticulture Review under the Resources heading.
